Workshop: Henna
In the heart of the Women's Health Information Support Centre (WHISC), a special event recently unfolded, brimming with creativity, laughter, and camaraderie. The occasion? A henna workshop!
Orchestrated to offer a moment of relaxation, self-expression, and community bonding.
With a small team and the warmest of welcomes, we gathered a group of thirteen enthusiastic participants, each eager to explore the art of henna.

As we settled into the workshop, we began by practicing on plastic sheets, ensuring that everyone felt comfortable and confident in their henna application. Some chose to freehand, allowing their creativity to flow freely, while others opted for stencils provided. The atmosphere was one of encouragement, where there were no wrong moves, only opportunities to learn and grow.
This gathering was not just about learning a new skill, but about creating a space where everyone felt valued and supported. The day was full of smiles and laughs, forming a testament to the connections being forged. New friendships blossomed, and a sense of community was palpable. It was heartwarming to witness how a shared experience like this could unite individuals from diverse backgrounds, all brought together by a common passion for self-expression and creativity.
Beyond the joy of the day itself, there's a deeper significance to embracing henna as a form of relaxation and self-care. This ancient art has been cherished for centuries for its meditative qualities, providing a therapeutic outlet for both the artist and the recipient. The intricate designs, the rhythmic motion of application, and the anticipation of the final result all contribute to a soothing experience that benefits mental well-being.

As we wrap up this event, I'm thrilled to announce that there will be more workshops in the future, not only at WHISC but also at various other venues. This is just the beginning of a journey of self-discovery and connection through art, and I can't wait to see how it continues to unfold.
In the end, it's clear that the power of creativity knows no bounds. It has the ability to bring strangers together, foster a sense of belonging, and nurture our mental health. And for that, we are endlessly grateful.
Here's to more moments of shared artistry and community in the days ahead!
