Baby Yoga - For mums & babies to move together - Zen Mumma Training

We recently had the pleasure of spending time at ZenMummas, diving deeper into the beautiful practices of baby yoga and massage.

It was such an enriching experience, allowing us to explore the practice in a really intuitive and embodied way. We came away with a deeper understanding of how movement, nurturing touch, connection and play can support both mum and baby during those precious early months.

We explored how to integrate gentle movement for babies alongside movement for mothers, supporting physical recovery, emotional wellbeing and the transition into motherhood. We also looked at the nervous system, including the sympathetic and parasympathetic responses, and how we can create spaces that encourage regulation, rest and relaxation.

We explored how childbirth can affect us both physically and emotionally, and how gentle movement, breath, massage and connection can support the healing process. For babies, we'll be incorporating practices that encourage sensory awareness, brain development, hand-eye coordination, crossing the midline and developing those important early motor skills.

But beyond the physical benefits, one of the things we feel most passionate about is the community these classes can create.

Becoming a new mum can be an incredibly beautiful but sometimes overwhelming experience. Having a space to meet other mothers, share experiences, feel understood and connect with people navigating similar stages of life can make such a difference.

Our classes are about creating an opportunity to develop a deeper, embodied connection with your baby, while also building connections with other mums. A space where there is no pressure to get things right, where everything is an invitation and where we follow baby's lead.

What will our classes look like?

Our sessions will weave together:

  • Sharing circles: A gentle opportunity to arrive, ground, get to know one another and share experiences.

  • Baby yoga and massage: Nurturing touch, gentle movement and playful interactions to support bonding and development.

  • Movement for mama: Gentle, embodied movement to reconnect with your body, support recovery and find moments of space for yourself.

  • Development through play: Exploring sensory awareness, coordination, hand-eye development and crossing the midline.

  • Songs, connection and relaxation: Creating familiar rituals, moments of joy and opportunities to bond.

And, as always with Flowstate, we'll finish with a little moment of rest and a sound bath – giving both mums and babies an opportunity to settle, relax and simply be.

We left ZenMamas feeling inspired, equipped and confident to bring these practices into the communities we serve, alongside our existing pregnancy and antenatal yoga classes.

We're now beginning to deliver four-week blocks of mum and baby yoga at May Logan Health Centre, and we're so excited to see these sessions grow.

In the new year, we'll be taking our baby yoga and massage sessions out into the wider community, working alongside charities, community organisations and support services.

Could your community benefit?

If you work with families, run a charity or community service, or feel that the parents and babies you support would benefit from these sessions, we'd love to hear from you.

We're particularly keen to connect with organisations supporting new mothers and families who might not otherwise have access to these kinds of experiences.

Because we believe every mother deserves a space to feel supported, every baby deserves opportunities for connection and nurturing touch, and every new parent deserves to know they're not doing it alone.

Expect songs, safety, connection and community.

Here's to growing together.
