Virtual Mindful Drawing workshops for Mental Health Awareness Week - Together Collective

Mindful drawing is a simple, accessible way to reconnect with the present moment through mark-making. There’s no pressure to create something “good” or polished—this is about process over outcome.

By focusing on the movement of the pen, the rhythm of the breath, and the sensation of drawing, you gently shift attention away from overthinking and into the body. It becomes less about art, and more about awareness. These sessions can be accessed from anywhere - all you need is a phone/tablet or laptop & somewhere comfortable to sit and let your creativity flow. Why it’s powerful for mental wellbeing

In a world that constantly demands attention and productivity, mindful drawing offers something different: space.

This practice can help:

  • regulate the nervous system

  • reduce feelings of overwhelm

  • improve focus and presence

  • create a non-verbal outlet for emotions

  • encourage self-expression without judgement

You don’t need any artistic background—just a willingness to slow down.

What we’ll explore in the session

Each session is gently guided and rooted in mindfulness techniques. Together, we’ll explore:

  • Mark making — freeing up the hand and letting go of perfection

  • Breath-led drawing — allowing your inhale and exhale to guide movement

  • Emotion to line — expressing feeling through abstract shapes and patterns

  • Repetition & rhythm — calming the mind through simple, repeated forms

There’s always an invitation to share, but never an expectation.

Creating your space

Whether you’re joining in person or online, your environment can support the experience.

You might like to:

  • find a quiet, comfortable place to sit

  • light a candle or play soft music

  • have a warm drink nearby

  • allow yourself to be uninterrupted for the hour

Simple materials are all you need—pen, paper, and presence.

A gentle reminder

There is no right or wrong way to do this.

Your lines don’t need to make sense.Your drawing doesn’t need to look like anything.

This is time to check in with yourself, to soften, and to explore creativity in a way that feels safe and un pressured! We will use grounding exercises first & I will encourage breath work drawing while we go.
