We recently joined the Palm House for their festive Father Christmas story-time events, delivering free children’s craft workshops as part of the programme.
Families were invited to meet Father Christmas & have their photos taken, listen to stories with Santa, write letters & decorate wooden baubles, letting their creativity shine in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
The workshops were designed to be accessible to all, providing a free, hands-on activity during the busy holiday season. It was wonderful to see children and parents enjoying the chance to slow down, be creative, and take home their own handmade decorations.
Events like this are more than just crafts — they bring people together, create space for families to connect, and help build a sense of community. For some children, it’s an opportunity to try something new; for others, a familiar festive tradition. The wooden baubles made great sustainable decorations & were enjoyed by all regardless of age or faith, & it was a joy to see so many families sharing in the experience.
A huge thank you to the Palm House for hosting and supporting community-focused events like this & inviting us to be involved. Simple creative activities, when made accessible, can make a real difference — sparking joy, connection, and festive cheer across the city.
It was a lovely reminder that creativity doesn’t always need to be fancy, complicated or ticketed; sometimes the simplest ideas — a wooden bauble and a bit of colour - can make the greatest impact.
