How to use the moon to your strength and personal journey.

This Month's Full Moon

On July 10th, we just witnessed July's Full Moon known as the Buck moon. This moon in particular was in Capricorn- the opposite or sister sign to Cancer which is ruled by the moon.

Around this time you might have felt reflective on what you've learnt so far as Capricorn forces us to be wise and build up maturity through our personal ups and downs and not just with a mask of unearned strength.

This full moon asks us in particular to think about the commitments we have in life, what means the most to us and what should be released.

How to Handle A Full Moon

The full moon in general won't always be this calm and collected and can often make us more emotional than usual but it's important to use this to our advantage and get the most out of the full moon's energy.

Each full moon will affect you slightly differently based on your birth chart but there are general rituals and routines we can follow to guide us through this lunar phase.

Moon Bathing: This is something that can be easily done in the warmer months, in a garden, back yard or even maybe a local park.

Make sure the space around you is quiet, if possible where you can clearly see the moon and a place you can relax.

Use this time to set intentions, think about what you want to get out of the full moon or as silly as it may sound don't be afraid to ask the moon to help guide you through whatever it is.

Crystal Charging: This is perfect if you want to carry the moon's energy with you in the following days after the full moon has passed.

Think about what you want to change, reflect or improve on within your life and pick the crystals you feel will assist with this or that you resonate the most.

Cleanse your crystals before with insense to remove all negative energy your crystals currently hold. Leave them on the windowsill, in the garden or door step (somewhere under the moon) overnight to absorb the moon's energy then simply collect them the next day and put them around the house or on your person.

Journaling: For some people it helps to write down what they want in a journal or on a page. This can be done in different ways such as writing affirmations, writing as if whatever you wanted happened etc

Journaling can help solidify and ground your mind when there's 100 different thoughts running around at once.

Moon Water: Similar to abosrbing the moon's energy through crystals, moon water is simply a glass of water that you've placed under the moonlight with set intentions. You don't have to drink it, you can also add it to plants (releasing the energy within your space) or for bathing.

Tarot or Oracle reading: If you're unsure of what intentions to set during the full moon, a tarot or oracle card reading can help you to tap into your intuition and give you clarity.

If you're not familiar with oracle cards, come along to a Flowstate yoga session where we often use them when finishing up our practice.

Meditation: Mediating can be done inside or outside of the house, through your own guiding or if you find a practitioner on youtube it can be helpful to use that a guide. Some people find it beneficial to set intentions and fall asleep during guided meditation to set them up for the full moon that night.

This Month's New Moon

The new moon will fall into Leo on the 24th of July, a perfect time to put yourself first and fulfil those original intentions you might have set during the full moon.

As the name suggests new moons can be a good time to start over, refresh your energy and often represent fresh starts- if you want a change in life now is the time to invite it in.

How to Handle a New Moon

Refresh your space: This can be something like deep cleaning your room, making sure you change the sheets on your bed, cleansing the area with insensce and lighting a candle to be gone with the old and invite the new energy in.

Banishing negativity: To help us let go of any negative energy we're holding onto, it can help to write down your negative experiences and thoughts, fold them over and either burn them (safely of course) or bury them in your garden, some people like to plant over them to really symbolise positivity coming into our lives.

Affirmations: This is applicable to both moons, but written and verbal affirmations can help us believe our intentions and manifestations will come in. For new moons in particular affirmations such as "I embrace new beginnings with an open heart and trust the journey ahead" and "I am open to receiving abundance in all areas of my life." can be beneficial.

Pick up a new hobby: If you've been thinking about starting a new skill now might be the time to do it as the new moon invites us to bring change into our lives no matter how big or small. If you're stuck on what to do you might wanna try out one of Flowstate's creative workshops to get your creative flow going.

Vision Boards: A huge way of manifesting can be visualising and physically printing out photos into a book of visions or even just creating a vision board album on pintrest and working away there. It helps to draw out what your life might look like and to believe it into existence.

We hope this has helped you to prepare what you might do when the next full or new moon comes along to make the most of the lunar energy.
