Bouncing into spring - the REAL new year

I always feel like spring is the real new year! As nature awakens we do too. Also it's another chance for a new beginning & fresh start as we welcome back the light, so don't feel too guilty if those new year resolutions haven't gone so well! Trying to establish new habits in the depths of winter is not the one, so if you've let things slip or feel like you've gone backwards - now is the time to connect to spring energy & re-set for the upcoming year

The reason spring is the real new year : As the frosty grip of winter loosens and the earth awakens with vibrant hues, a sense of renewal permeates the air. Spring, with its tender blossoms and gentle breezes, heralds not only the changing of seasons but also the true beginning of the new year for many cultures around the world.

Throughout history, various civilizations have marked the arrival of spring with celebrations and rituals, honoring the rebirth of nature and the promise of fertility and abundance. The vernal equinox, when day and night are of equal length, symbolizes balance and harmony, a fitting time for new beginnings and fresh starts.

One of the primary reasons why spring is considered the real new year is its association with growth and rejuvenation. In the natural world, plants emerge from their dormant state, birds return from migration, and animals awaken from hibernation. It's a time of profound transformation and a reminder that life is cyclical, with each spring bringing the opportunity for growth and renewal.

Moreover, spring embodies a spirit of optimism and hope. After months of cold and darkness, the longer days and warmer temperatures inspire a sense of vitality and possibility. People emerge from their winter cocoons, eager to embark on new adventures, pursue new goals, and embrace new opportunities.

Culturally, many societies have observed springtime festivals and rites of passage that symbolize rebirth and new beginnings. From the ancient Persian celebration of Nowruz to the Christian holiday of Easter, spring festivals often involve rituals of cleansing, purification, and feasting, all of which serve to mark the start of a new cycle and the promise of a brighter future.

Furthermore, from a practical standpoint, spring is a logical time to mark the new year. In agricultural societies, the arrival of spring signaled the beginning of the planting season, making it a natural time to start anew. The budding of flowers and the greening of fields provided tangible evidence of the earth's renewal, reinforcing the idea of spring as a time of new beginnings.

In today's fast-paced world, where the boundaries between seasons blur and the rhythm of nature is often overlooked, the significance of spring as the real new year remains as relevant as ever. It serves as a reminder to pause, reflect, and embrace the opportunity for growth and transformation that each new cycle brings.

So as the earth awakens from its winter slumber and bursts forth with new life, let us embrace the spirit of spring and greet the new year with open hearts and minds. For in the blossoming of each flower and the song of each bird, we find the promise of renewal and the endless possibility of a brighter tomorrow.
