Yesterday, we hosted our Christmas bauble decorating workshop at the WHISC. It was a true celebration of creativity, community, and festive spirit. As soon as everyone arrived, the room filled with excitement, tables laid out with paints, brushes, wooden Christmas tree cut-outs, and rows of shiny plastic baubles just waiting to be transformed. What started as a simple activity quickly grew into a joyful and memorable afternoon for everyone involved.
We began by exploring different decoration ideas, traditional reds and greens, elegant metallics and abstract patterns. Some participants arrived with a clear vision, while others let their creativity unfold as they went along. What made the session so special was seeing how each person approached their decorations with their own style, confidence, and imagination.

The Power of Crafting for Wellbeing
Beyond the fun and creativity, the workshop highlighted just how beneficial hands-on crafts can be. Activities like painting and decorating encourage people to slow down and be fully present—something increasingly rare in busy day-to-day life. Crafting is known to support mental well-being by:
Reducing stress and anxiety: The repetitive, calming motions of painting help settle the mind and activate the body’s relaxation response.
Boosting focus and mindfulness: With a brush in hand, people naturally tune into the moment, letting go of external distractions.
Encouraging self-expression: Everyone can create something that reflects their personality, no matter their skill level.
Building confidence: Watching a blank bauble turn into a beautiful decoration is incredibly rewarding.
It was especially heartwarming to see how relaxed everyone gradually became, shoulders dropped, conversations flowed, and the atmosphere shifted into something calm, cosy, and collaborative.
A Shared Festive Experience
One of the standout elements of the workshop was the sense of togetherness it created. People chatted about their holiday plans, shared craft tips, swapped colours, and complimented each other’s designs. Whether they were carefully painting wooden Christmas tree decorations or experimenting with bold patterns on baubles, everyone supported and inspired one another.
Workshops like this remind us of the importance of community spaces, places where people can connect, create, and simply enjoy each other’s company. By the end, the table was filled with glittering ornaments, each one completely unique but equally special.

Beautiful Creations to Take Home
As the session came to a close, everyone proudly held up their finished pieces, hand-painted baubles shimmering with personality, and wooden Christmas decorations adorned with everything from delicate snowflakes to vibrant abstract designs.
Watching people leave with smiles, festive energy, and a sense of accomplishment truly captured the magic of the day.
Looking Ahead
Yesterday’s workshop wasn’t just an arts-and-crafts session; it was a chance for people to unwind, express themselves, and enjoy a creative experience together. We’re so grateful to everyone who joined us and made the event so memorable.
