As we jet off on holiday, soak up the warm weather (the very little the UK gets!) and are out and about a lot more we can often burnout quicker or forget to look after ourselves so here is a list of ways to preserve our inner peace and balance whilst living through the rush of the season.
Wellness in nature
Staying Active
Take advantage of the bright nights by going for walks, runs or swims, let nature ground you and put your mind at ease even if its a short 30 minute walk to the park and back, this can help to settle your mind from the busy days and weeks.
Park Yoga
One of the best ways to practice wellness in nature is attending a park yoga session or just doing your own solo yoga practice. The outdoor sights and sounds can help deepen the connection with the body and mind as well as reducing stress. Here at Flowstate we hold yoga sessions mainly in Sefton Park - watch our social media page to catch the next one.
Physical Wellness
Prioritising Sleep
Whilst we want to go to every festival, concert, event or night out that we possibly can its important not to run ourselves out of any energy for the day time and its easy to stray from a consistent, healthy sleeping pattern. However, on the days off aim to get a good nights sleep and allow yourself to recharge if this is something you struggle with meditating before bed and drinking chamomile or lavender teas may help you rest better.
Remember to Hydrate
Maybe the most basic way to stay well during the summer but sometimes it slips our minds, getting into the habit of bringing your favourite water bottle about with you can be a game changer, having water whenever you want or need it.
Emotional and Mental Wellness
Practice Mindfulness
Similar to park yoga, practicing meditation when you get a chance or breathwork can restore our energy and bring us backdown to the ground after a stressful day or alternatively at the start of the day to enhance concentration and clarity for the rest of the day.
Try a Digital Detox
Although so much easier said than done, it can help dramatically if you take even one social media app away to help stop hours of aimless scrolling, additionally if you're not ready to fully cut social media out of your life you can use a screentime app to lock them during key parts of the day you might have found yourself using your phone the most.
Staying Connected
Sometimes the best thing for ourselves can be spending time with those we love, its important to put yourself out there and build positive connections with the people around us. Call up a friend you haven't seen in a while and go for a walk or coffee you might be surpised how much it lifts your mood.
Embrace Creativity
This summer try something you haven't before or improve on different creative skills, at Flowstate we host a range of free creative workshops at Wisc Liverpool making many different crafts including dream catchers, painting, earring making, badges and many others
