As the summer holidays drew to a close we joined Iced Gem events in hosting free back-to-school workshops in local wirral shopping centre - The Cherry Tree Centre. These sessions gave children and families the chance to get ready for the new school term in a fun, supportive, and affordable way.

Personalised Back-to-School Supplies

Children took part in hands-on activities to design and decorate their very own school essentials:

  • Pencil Cases – Kids personalised their pencil cases with colours, patterns, and names, turning a simple item into something unique and special.

  • Notebooks – Each child decorated a notebook to reflect their personality and style, giving them something uplifting to use in the classroom.

These creative sessions were not only fun but also helped children feel a sense of pride and ownership as they prepared for the year ahead. We provided them with stencils, stickers and gems to decorate their own school supplies.

Supporting Families in Challenging Times

The workshops took place in a shopping centre based in an area facing significant socio-economic challenges. For many families, the cost of new school supplies can be a real burden. By offering these activities for free we were able to ease some of that pressure while giving children the chance to feel confident and excited about starting the new school year.

We ensured the sessions were welcoming for children with additional needs, offering an inclusive environment where every child could participate at their own pace & access creativity & joy.

Community Connection and Confidence

Parents and carers shared their gratitude for having access to free, high-quality activities in their local area, especially at a time when financial pressures are high & the summer holidays incur a lot of costs! The workshops provided more than just supplies — they created moments of joy, boosted children’s confidence, and helped families feel supported as they headed into a new term.
