Monday: Your Weekly Reset Button

For many of us, Monday arrives with a sense of pressure, a long list of tasks, endless emails, and the feeling that we need to hit the ground running. But what if we viewed Monday differently?

Rather than a day to survive, Monday can become a weekly reset point; an opportunity to pause, reflect, and intentionally create a week that supports our wellbeing. By setting simple intentions and prioritising what truly matters, we can begin each week feeling more grounded, focused, and energised.

The Psychology of a Fresh Start

There is a reason why many people feel motivated to start a new habit on a Monday. Psychologists refer to this as the "fresh start effect", the idea that certain moments in time enourage us to draw a line between the past and the future.

Mondays create a natural, mental checkpoint. They allow us to leave behind what didin't work last week and focus on what we want to do differently moving foward. Rather than dwelling on missed workouts, unfinished tasks, or stressful moments, a Monday reset invites us to ask:

  • What went well last week?

  • What challenged me?

  • What do I need to do more of this week?

  • How do I want to feel by Friday?

Small Rituals, Big Impact

A Monday reset doesn't need to involve a complete life change. Often, the smallest of changes have the bigest impact.

You might:

  • Spend 10 mins journalling

  • Take a long walk

  • Attend a yoga class

  • Listen to calming music

  • Set boundaries around work and screen time

Make space for Joy

When planning our weeks, it's easy to focus entirely on obligations. Yet, wellbeing is strengthened when we intentionally make space for things we enjoy.

Whether it's a henna workshop, sound bath, yoga in the park, or meeting friends for coffee, having something positive to look foward to can boost motivation and support emotional wellbeing.

A healthy week isn't just productive- it's fulfilling
